I was out with the Beardman for a long over due game hunting day. I noticed funny enough, most of our time wasn't spent on video games itself (aside from looking for games for 64BitMatthew) Got me thinking, what is truly important during game hunting?
A video from the last "Ian and Nate" game hunting day! =D |
In retrospect, video game collecting has taken me to places I never expected. I've strengthened my old friendships (cheese), made new friends, took video game road trips and even risked harm all in the name of "Hunting". It's the time in between the games when I laughed the most...
8 Years Ago-ish
Retro Game Collecting - Started when my wife (my girlfriend at the time) took me to the thrift store and I found my first video game for $0.50 (I think Wario's Woods). Those were good days when there wasn't a "game market". Almost all my games were locally found with less than a handful from online (My dedicated game room houses 1200 unique titles). It was here when Lester accompanied me while I looked for games at local pawn shops, thrift stores, private sales and other "shady" spots. Fun Times.

Thriftdweller - Lester and I decided to chronicle our game hunting adventures on a YouTube video blog. We've been on many adventures:
-Our channel has over 2200 subscribers on YouTube and over 100 videos.
-Connected with other friends Ian, Gary, Rap and Phil during game hunting
-New game hunting friends from Youtube 64BitMatthew, 24BitGame and Sega Stoner to name a few.
-Explored areas I otherwise would never have got to experience (road trips and other shady spots included)
Retro Gamers Winnipeg - Over many conversations with other gamers and hunters, we've talked about making a "convention". I'm on the verge of realizing a dream of starting a video game event to help local charity. I've said before, retro video gamer collectors are some of the most passionate and nicest people who I believe have the ability to make real change!
At the end, if I never buy another video game again, the friends I've made and the fun times are irreplaceable, all in the name of game hunting.
Follow the rainbow!
-Nate is watching Supernatural on Netflix
